Every boy has a little wild, a little brave and little kind in them that should be celebrated! For Christiaan’s 1st birthday his mommy and daddy teamed up and created an African Safari adventure for him.
The birthday party was held on our family farm, Landskroon, in Southern-Paarl. As a little girl I grew up on this farm, so it was so special to have my boy’s first birthday party held here.
It was decided to have one big pallet with cushions and blankets on which the little ones could sit (together with their mothers) and enjoy their treats. I found an easy play-dough recipe on Pinterest (and coloured it green) to tie in with the theme. My husband spray-painted all the animals gold and I glued them onto the lid of each container. These served as take-away home gifts for the friends.
Being a graphic designer myself, I enjoyed every minute of designing all the party stationery for my boy’s first birthday (from the invites to the milestone poster, the banner (I don’t have a laser-cutter, so I used scissors and cut everything by hand – it took ages, but it was worth it), party favour tags, cake toppers, etc.
Party boxes were filled with flings, a lollipop, squishie, chomp, cookie-cutter (for the play-dough) and a colouring-in picture to keep them busy.
